- 01Yes! We do offer individual testing options, such as PennHIP or single OFA exams. However, our $700 All-In Package is designed to give you the best pricing possible. In many cases, the full package ends up being more cost-effective than selecting individual services. We’ll gladly review your goals and help determine which option makes the most sense for your program.
- 02Yes! If you have 10 or more dogs that need testing, are within our service area, and have space for our mobile clinic trailer, we can come directly to you. This makes it easy to complete full testing for your entire program in one visit — right at your facility.
- 03Most appointments take about one hour per dog from start to finish. This includes sedation, imaging, recovery time, and review. Our team works efficiently but takes the time needed to ensure accuracy and comfort for each dog.
- 04Please withhold food for 8 hours before testing (water is fine). Make sure your dogs have had a chance to potty before their appointment and are calm and ready for handling. Dogs should be freshly bathed, clean, and free of debris or excessive matting, especially around the hip and shoulder areas, to ensure accurate imaging and a professional presentation in your photos. We’ll provide specific instructions when your appointment is confirmed.
- 05For safety reasons, owners cannot be present inside the mobile trailer during X-rays or testing. Our trailer is designed specifically for our veterinary staff and equipment and does not have additional space for guests. You’re welcome to relax in your car during the appointment, and we’ll text you as soon as your dog is finished and recovering. We want each dog to stay calm, focused, and safe throughout the process.
- 06• PennHIP: Results are typically available the same day to within 3 days • OFA: Submitted the same day; official results post within 2–4 weeks • Genetic Testing: 1–2 weeks (depending on the lab) You’ll receive a secure, shareable link to your dog’s digital results folder, containing all certifications, AKC registration documents, and professional photos.
- 07We accept cash or check as preferred payment methods. We also accept credit/debit cards, PayPal, or Venmo with a 3% processing fee. A $100 deposit is required to secure your appointment slot. This ensures your place on our schedule and allows us to prepare for your clinic day.
- 08• PennHIP: Can be performed as early as 16 weeks of age • OFA Prelims: Recommended at 4 months and older • Final OFA Certifications: After 12 months for shoulders, patellas, and cardiac; after 24 months for hips We can help you decide the best timing based on your program and your dogs’ development.
- 09We recommend waiting until your dog is out of heat or fully weaned after pregnancy before testing. Hormonal changes can temporarily affect joint laxity, which could influence results.
- 10Not every result will be perfect — and that’s okay. We’ll help you understand what the report means and how it may impact your breeding plans. Even non-passing results are valuable information that help guide responsible breeding decisions.
- 11Yes! Many breeders bring several dogs at once to make the most of their visit. We can schedule your testing day to accommodate your entire program efficiently.
- 12Yes. All PennHIP and OFA results are recognized by the AKC and major breed clubs as official health certifications and can be listed on registration records.
